Bush Walk Programme
Our Bush Walk Programme is purposely designed for our over two-year-olds.
This programme supports the children in building the skills that will support them to be independent, confident and resilient. Learn about nature, protecting wildlife and the Dunedin Town Belt
Some of the learning outcomes include promoting self-help skills, regulating emotions, managing myself and my belongings, listening to adults as well as learning about Te Ao Māori worldview.
The Bush Walk programme is planned by teachers and child lead. Kaiako follow the children's lead, foster their curiosity and questioning as well as offer support and direction. We want to ensure the programme is purposeful and safe for all children.

In a child centred curriculum, children are able to explore, discover, think and investigate. Be engaged in learning experiences designed by teachers and children. Choose experiences based on the children's interests and learning dispositions. We want your child to love learning and to thrive. |

KaiAll meals are provided, cooked and prepared for children at OCC. The menu is planned by our Cook and meets the guidelines and recommendations of the Healthy Heart Guidelines. We provide a Winter, Autum and a summer menu for our children so that they can experience a variety of seasonal foods. Mealtimes are a social time at the Centre and a great learning opportunity for all children. The young children are given support and encouraged towards self-help skills, such as setting the table and using cutlery.
Dietary requirements, allergies or food preferences are always considered and in consultation with the family and management we hope to cater for all. In some situations, such as 'nut free' we may not be able to meet the needs of that child but would endeavor to do so and discuss this with the family or families. |
Centre Operating TimesThe Centre is open from 7.30 am — 6.00 pm Monday to Friday. We are closed weekends and statutory holidays.
